The Metacomet Post 1926, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Simsbury, CT
presents special certificate to Joshua Storm, Simsbury Volunteer Ambulance Association.

At a recent awards event of the Simsbury Volunteer Ambulance Association (SVAA), the Metacomet Post 1926, VFW, Simsbury, CT presented Joshua Storm of the SVAA with a national VFW certificate which stated, "In special recognition of exemplary service to humanity by administering emergency medical assistance.” It was signed by John Romano, Simsbury VFW Post Commander and John Lamb, Post Quartermaster.
This presentation honors Josh Storm who has been a member of the Simsbury Volunteer Ambulance Association since 1999 shortly after becoming an EMT. He also served with the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company from 1996 until 2001, when he focused exclusively on volunteering on the ambulance.
Storm and his wife of 15 years, Jessica Burke, are both natives of Simsbury. They reside in Tariffville. Storm works professionally as a Caucus Aide to the Democrats in the Connecticut General Assembly. He has been a constant volunteer for the citizens of Simsbury for 22 years.
The SVAA nominated Storm for this award because he exemplifies the spirit of giving back to the community. He continually takes on weekly 12-hour shifts as a volunteer EMT, helping those in need. He is also a trainer of recruits to the SVAA.
Pictured with Josh Storm are (L-R) Lee Wilson, Commander Third District and member of the Simsbury VFW; Jessica Storm; John Lamb, Quartermaster Simsbury VFW; John Romano, Commander Simsbury VFW and John Fox, Senior Vice Commander, Simsbury VFW.

Wearing unearned medal can be a crime; free-speech

Lying about receiving a military medal is constitutionally protected, but there’s no right to carry the lie a step further by wearing a combat decoration that hasn’t been earned, a federal appeals court said Wednesday.
