Meeting with VA Commissioner Sean Connelly At the December holiday dinner of Metacomet VFW Post 1926 in Simsbury, five certificates of recognition were distributed to members of the Simsbury Cub Scout Den 11 of Boy Scout Pack 276 for their outstanding contribution of $486 to the Post’s ‘Adopt a Vet’ program. The Cub Scouts raised the donation by selling Boy Scout popcorn. The Post’s ‘Adopt A Vet’ program has been in place for just over one year with the long term objective to help individual veterans stand on their own in a sustaining lifestyle. The program recently helped a disabled veteran financially while appealing his disability with the Veterans Administration and helped a homeless veteran get back on his feet. The Cub Scouts responsible for the donation, with their certificates, are (left to right): Brett Osborne, Dylan Soto, Aiden Drake, Phelps Merriman. Missing from the picture is Caleb Deems. In the back row are (left to right): John Romano, Commander, VFW Post 1926; Suzanne Osborne, Den Leader with her son, Josh; John Lamb, Quartermaster of Post 1926; and John Fox, Senior Vice Commander of Post 1926.
